At the beginning of the summer the landlords/owners invited the other residents to purchase a few plants/flowers to fill the garden beds. I love that they invited them ...
I had some strawberries that needed to be used before they went bad. I chopped into small bits, placed them in an ice tray and filled with filtered water. Once they were frozen, I removed them from the tray and placed them in a small baggie. I have enjoyed them in a glass of sunset blush wine at the end of the day and in afternoon summer mock-tails made with pineapple juice, coconut water and a splash of lime juice. Nice and refreshing ...
A Sun-shiney yellow and 21-year-old Hawaiian fabric squares that I played with improv piecing from the scrap bin...
I created rays of sunshine in the quilting, used some tropical print in the pieced backing and finished it with a scrappy yellow binding ...
What a busy week it has been! If you visited this week's Sew & Tell party, you will recall that I was making dresses for our Granddaughters. They will be baptized on Sunday. We have had some beautiful weather all week and wanted to take advantage of it to work in the camper... but we both had work to get accomplished. The table runner (20" x 40") perfect for a table, cedar chest or buffet. I used prairie points to make the mountains and I appliqued Fishers Peak in the yellow sun - Fishers Peak is a prominent landmark and the newest addition to the Colorado State Parks system.
The weather outside was terrible... it was cold... It was snowing and it was windy. It was wintering outside like it hasn't wintered for a while. I was quite content staying inside, whether in my studio quilting the TOPS quilt or in the living room as I hand-quilted my sweet, silky elephants.

I love how the wispy clouds reflect the quilting. |
Happy New Year! May your coming year be filled with beautiful quilts, lots of love, laughter, joy and good health!
If all goes as planned, it will be sandwiched and under the needle of my Babylock Jazz before Monday.
With orphan blocks from the collection of Mary Margaret Smith, this quilt is like a step back to the 90s with the wild prints ~ all silky fabrics but pieced on to stabilizer so they didn't move too much. Her choices of fancy embroider stitches in bright, contrasting colors added to the wild.
